What better way to shake off the winter blues, than going green at the 3rd Annual ShamRock’n Roll in the West End? Headlining the main stage is Texas’ Celtic rock band The Killdares with opening act BeatleGras, Irish dance groups, bagpipe performances, and the 3rd Annual ShamRock’n Roll Pet Parade and Pet Lookalike contest presented by Petropolitan Doggie Day Spa benefiting SPCA of Texas. What would a street festival in the West End be without great food prepared by the award winning restaurants of the West End? ShamRock’n Roll will also benefit West End Charities (www.westendcharities.com).
Dallas’ West End Market Street will be the site for the 3rd Annual ShamRock’n Roll in the West End, Sunday, March 14, 2010 from 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Irish foods, green beer, Celtic music and local bands, Irish dancers, bagpipers, arts and crafts vendors, along with the 3rd Annual ShamRock’n Roll Pet Parade and Pet Look Alike Costume Contest benefiting the SPCA of Texas, make this an event for everyone. Whether partiers need a little hair of the dog from Saturday’s Greenville Avenue celebration or a family day out is in order, this free event fits the bill. That’s right; there is not a cover charge. Just come and have fun.
The Shamrock Main stage will feature local Celtic rock band, “The Killdares” (http://www.killdares.com), with BeatleGras (www.beatlegras.com) opening the show with other musical guests starting the day.
The family fun area will feature bounce houses, games, balloon artists, face painters, and Irish dance lessons. Radio Disney AM 620 will be on-site with music, games and prizes. The SPCA of Texas will also have its mobile adoption center at the corner of Market Street and Munger Avenue.
The 3rd Annual ShamRock’n Roll Pet Parade presented by Petropolitan Doggie Day Spa will step off at the corner of Munger Avenue and Market Street at 4:00 pm, led by Jimmy the Texas Bagpiper, Shandon Irish Dancers, and furry ambassadors from the SPCA of Texas. The parade will march down Market Street to the Shamrock Main Stage, where judging for the best pet costume and best pet and pet pal look a-like’s will be judged by representatives of SPCA of Texas, Radio Disney and Petropolitan Doggie Day Spa. Registration fee for the pet parade and costume contests is $5 and all parade registration proceeds benefit the SPCA of Texas. Petropolitan Doggie Day Spa is providing goodie bags for the first 50 participants and over $1000 worth of prizes for Best All Around Pet, Best Costume and Best Pet and Partner Look-a-Like. Registration begins at 2 PM at the Petropolitan Doggie Day Spa booth.
